How Ressortir Global is deploying technology in petroleum products supply – Ogunleke

Oladayo T. Ogunleke is the managing director, Ressortir Global, an integrated Oil & Gas Sole-Distribution company, based in Lagos. In this interview, he shares insight on the company’s operations, some of the challenges and how it is navigating the tough business environment in Nigeria.

Please give us an insight into what you do at Ressortir Global?

Ressortir Global is an integrated Oil & Gas Sole-Distribution company and our swift operations and services are technologically driven and designed to improve the relationship as well ease all processes of offering services to our customers. We also aim at using our tech-driven notion to create a seamless and unmatched customer service experience.

In terms of education and training, what prepared you for the current role as managing director?

In terms of education, I acquired the fundamental knowledge of business operations after obtaining multiple degrees in consumer Psychology. My educational skills gave me an edge with reference to understanding employee’s behavior, predict market forces and improve organizational overall performance. Training, is key in business operations; my years of experience in the Nigerian Oil & Gas downstream industry amongst others has prepared me for my current post.

What differentiates you from other firms offering similar services, how is yours unique?

The hallmark of our operations is to offer outstanding services and stand out amongst other sole distributors. To achieve that, the Ressortir team applies tech-driven ideas in its operations and include; Web-App Platform (online request) which comes with a tracking option for every request placed. Also, unlike other LPG cylinders, The Ressortir branded LPG cylinders comes with a gauge meter, that helps customers to keep tab of their LPG consumption.

What problems do you set out to solve?

We have positioned ourselves to be a customer-centric organization, providing solutions to issues in the downstream industry; to consistently achieve the set goal, our team ensures accurate deliveries of products by using calibrated flow meters for AGO supplies and automated scaling device for domestic LPG re-fills. Hydrometer and water test are conducted at every Diesel delivery point. Also, accurate measures are in place for swift deliveries.

What would you say are your biggest constraints in delivering services to customers?

Recently, one major constraint in AGO supply is exploitation, mostly conducted by touts during haulage and deliveries. These consistent exploitation make it difficult for our business to thrive and in turn hinders investment. However, I believe the Government are taking the right steps to curb these activities.

What is your experience moving products across Nigerian cities to reach your customers?

AGO transportation has been challenging due to levy’s imposed on haulage services within Nigeria. Also, bad road and substandard network system often causes delay in delivery time.

How do you source your products and how is the situation at ports impacting your service delivery?

Ressortir Global AGO/LPG products are sourced directly from multiple governmental licensed importers at the required density.

Our team source for the most secure and reliable vendors and have been able to establish a strong partnership with them. This enables us to ensure seamless
service delivery, regardless of the situation at the Ports

How have you been impacted by recent regulations by the DPR regarding the operation of LPG, what is your experience?

The DPR regulations with regards to operations of LPG has been favorable to us because we are a reputable organization that operates within the ambit of the law.

The Ressortir Global team takes into cognizance every DPR regulation with regards to its AGO/LPG supply services and we adhere to all regulations. As a key player in the industry, we understand the role of this regulatory body as it relates to LPG and what they intend to achieve as government watchdog in the industry.

How does the fluctuating retail price of petroleum products affect your business?

Government must ensure that there is a level playing ground by removing all monopolies, while a strong anti-competition agent should be in place to discourage operators from taking advantage of a free system. I suggest, we need a strong agency that sanctions infractions and help to mitigate this unfair pricing. The continuous fluctuation in retail prices has toughened the relationship between Ressortir Global existing and potential customers and it is entirely beyond our control as a sole distribution company.

The world is moving towards cleaner energy, how concerned are you about the future of the diesel business?

Change is constant. Bearing this in mind, the Ressortir team are open and capable of making innovative industrial changes as the world adopts cleaner energy. We pay very close attention to global trends and have developed a proactive approach to constantly developing new strategies and innovations to enable us survive the test of time.

Many companies are taking their social responsibility serious to maintain good relations with the public, what steps are you taking in this regard?

At Ressortir Global, CSR opportunities and activities are taken seriously. Ressortir Global partners with Ressortir Initiative to help students improve and achieve their career goals through educational empowerment.

We also offer free psychological consults for victims of abuse under the Ressortir initiative platform. The Ressortir Global Team in collaboration with Ressortir Initiative also distributed palliatives to members of its immediate community affected by the COVID-91 pandemic.
