Meet Motajo, ABUAD’s overall best-graduating medical student

Oluwatosin Motajo graduated with first-class honours from Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), where she was recognised as the overall best-graduating student for the 2024/2025 academic year.

Motajo graduated with distinctions in Anatomy, Physiology, Integrated Medical Courses, Pharmacology, Paediatrics, Surgery, Community Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Cultivating hard work and resilience attitude helped her navigate her journey through ABUAD’s demanding curriculum, especially in professional courses such as Medicine, Law, and Engineering, among others.

Beyond academics, hard work and dedication guided Motajo’s expedition on campus making her an excellent leader. Balancing these responsibilities also taught her time management and prioritisation skills crucial for academic success.

Motajo’s success story at ABUAD is one of balancing a hectic schedule with a focus on both academic and personal growth.

Her exceptional qualities have helped her receive multiple leadership and academic awards, showcasing her commitment to excellence in both fields.

Motajo’s success is a testament to her multifaceted approach combining academic rigour with leadership, community service, and personal growth.

Though she is hard-working and dedicated, she attributes much of her success to divine intervention, suggesting a mindset of gratitude and positivity that can significantly impact one’s resilience and approach to challenges.

She was the 10th president and 9th vice president of the Afe Babalola Medical Students Senate House. Besides, Motajo is the president of the Standing Committee on Reproductive Health including AIDS (SCORA) and the Standing Committee on Human Rights and Peace SCOHE) within the Association of Medical Students of Africa (AMSA), among others.

Motajo’s leadership roles, involvement in research, and spiritual life seem to have played significant roles in navigating the murky waters on campus.

Bolade Dele-Ojo, president of the Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Ekiti chapter, while decorating Motajo and other inductees for said medical practice demands not just intellect, but resilience, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to the service of humanity hence the decoration.

“Today, we are gathered not only to celebrate the culmination of years of dedication, hard work, and sacrifice but also to recognise excellence in its truest form,” Dele-Ojo said while congratulating all the newly-inducted doctors.

Speaking about the remarkable feat by Motajo, the president said; “Her ground-breaking achievements are a testament to the fact that women are not just participants in the field of Medicine but are leaders and trailblazers.”
