Federal Government has been advised to set aside a seed fund to empower fresh university graduates who might want to establish small business as a way of encouraging entrepreneurship.

Oladimeji Olushola, chief executive officer, Parrot Publicis Consultants, a hypothetical, Public Relations firm floated by Mass Communication and Library and Information Sciences Students of the University, made the demand while addressing a media briefing at the University as part of activities kick-starting ‘My Indomie Story Campaign’ held recently on the campus.  He said the fund would discourage the quest for what he referred to as “elusive white collar jobs”.

The campaign is a practical segment of a course of the 300 Level Students of Mass Communication Department and Library and Information Sciences of the University of Ilorin, who specialise in Public Relations and Advertisement and was organised in conjunction with Dufil Prima Foods, producers of Indomie noodles.

Oladimeji said the extension of the feeding scheme would go a long way in cushioning the adverse effects of the lingering economic crisis on the student populace.

The CEO noted that his organisation’s preference for Dufil Prima Foods was because the company among others, has brought succour to students and families grappling with the current economic reality.

“We want to use this medium to urge the Federal Government to patronise Dufil Foods in its home grown school feeding programme as a way of encouraging the company to do more.

“Our preference for Dufil Prima was borne out of the fact that it is one of the few companies in Nigeria that has continued to provide succour to Nigerian students and many families in this period of hard economic recession where having a three square meal is almost practically impossible.

“Let me at this point call on all Nigerians to disregard any unfounded rumour about Indomie being one of the causes of any disease. Always remember that if it’s not Indomie, is not the same thing as Indomie”.

Olushola added that the fund would discourage the quest for what he referred to as “elusive white collar jobs”.

In his remarks, the Area Marketing Manager of Indomie in Ilorin, Abiola Adekunle Ahmed, said the company has been of immense assistance to Nigerians, who patronise its products.
