The Faculty of Education at the Federal University of Kashere, Gombe State, has honoured its staff members who have made significant contributions to public service.
The event celebrated faculty members appointed to prominent government roles, as well as those who had received new appointments within the university.
During the event, Umar Pate, a professor and the vice chancellor of the University, expressed immense pride in the honorees, thanking them for their dedication to both education and public service.
He praised their accomplishments, noting that they had made both the Faculty of Education and the university as a whole extremely proud.
“We are here today to celebrate not only your personal achievements but also the collective success of the faculty and the entire university,” Pate said.
Williams Aderommi, a professor and chairman of the University’s Governing Council, in his speech, commended the honorees for demonstrating exceptional leadership both within and outside the university.
Aderommi highlighted how their success reflects the university’s commitment to academic excellence and mentorship, saying, “Your success is our success, and it is a testament to the rigorous academic environment that the university provides.”
Among the honorees was Mark Nyiste, a PhD holder and the Director of Research and Publications at the Benue State Public Service Institute. Nyiste, who was recently appointed to his new role, dedicated his award to the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hycenth Iormem Alia, for providing the opportunity to serve the people of Benue.
Nyiste emphasised the importance of collaboration between education and governance in bringing about meaningful change.
The event also featured speeches from other awardees, many of whom reflected on the lasting impact the Federal University of Kashere had on their careers.
They expressed deep appreciation for the university’s mentorship and support, which they credited for their professional growth and achievements.
Earlier in a welcome address, Barakatu Abdulahi, a professor and the dean faculty of Education, said the ceremony highlighted the broad range of contributions made by the faculty members, both within the university and in public service.
The dean, while acknowledging the honorees contributions to the growth of the faculty also appreciated the vice Chancellor and the entire university leadership for their support.
The event was a proud moment for the university, demonstrating the far-reaching influence of its education and the success of its faculty members.
