2025 UTME JAMB suspends law programmes registration for 8 varsities

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has announced that the board would not conduct admissions for Law programmes for some universities in the 2025 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME).

JAMB therefore informed prospective candidates for this year’s UTME who intends study law programme in institutions such as Kwara State University, Malete, Ilorin, Kwara State; Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State; Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State; Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State.

Others are Taraba State University, Jalingo, Taraba State; Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo, Cross River State; Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State and Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, to have a rethink.

The board disclosed this in a statement recently, tagged: Suspension of Law programmes at selected universities” when it explained that its decision followed the suspension of the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme by the Council of Legal Education (CLE) for the 2025/2026 academic session at the mentioned universities.

Hence, JAMB told the affected universities that it will not approve any admissions for candidates seeking to enrol in their law programme for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The entrance examination into tertiary institutions said the suspension of the law programme at the Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, will last for two academic sessions: specifically, the 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 sessions.

The statement, released through Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s public communications advisor read: “The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) will not be conducting admissions for the Law programme in some selected universities following the suspension of the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme by the Council of Legal Education (CLE) for the 2025/2026 academic session.

“Please note that the suspension of the Law programme at the Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, will last for two academic sessions: specifically, the 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 sessions.

“As a result, JAMB will not approve any admissions for candidates seeking to enrol in the Law programme at the aforementioned universities for the 2025/2026 academic session.”

Besides, the statement said the ban on registration for the law programme at the Nigerian Police Academy will extend into the 2026/2027 academic session.
