ABiT Network, Tatcoin Donate 1-Million Naira to EndSARS Protesters

Gaius Chibueze, Chief Executive Officer of both ABiT Network and Tatcoin, has announced the donation of a million naira to people protesting against the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, unit of the Nigeria Police Force. ABiT Network is a global company leveraging blockchain technology to build products, platforms and communities for daily living.

Chibueze disclosed this in a series of tweets via his verified Twitter handle, @gaiuschibueze, with receipts of each transactions made public.

It will be recalled that lots of young Nigerians in the past weeks took to streets of major cities in Nigeria, urging the federal government to end the activities of SARS and also reform the police to bring an end to police brutality.

The AFrica’s pioneer Bitcoin investor who announced the donations in batches said in the first tweet on Monday, October 12, 2020, that they had put together 500,000 naira to support protesters and were in search of organisations championing the nationwide protest.

According to him, “We at Tatcoin and ABiT Network have put together a total sum of N500,000 to support two verified organisations championing the EndSARS campaign and only Tatas are to recommend such organisations.

The two organisations when identified and verified were billed to receive the sum of N250,000 each to support the campaign.

However, on Tuesday, October 13, He added the donation of Tatcoin worth N500,000, noting that they observed the freezing of some donors’ accounts by the Nigeria federal government.

“Yesterday, we sent N500,000 to support protesters’ feeding and water to keep them refreshed. We’ve just learnt that bank accounts for donors have been frozen.

“So as the CEO of @tatcoin, I am giving another N500,000 worth of tatcoin to support,” he said.

The cash donations were received by Eveafterdark Restaurant and Kotun Foundation, which Chibueze said planned to provide food and water for thousands of protesters.

Eveafterdark as at press time, had confirmed reception of the money and added that 400 persons were well fed on Tuesday, October 13.
