Worry after Italian with coronavirus was not isolated for 48 hours

These “Big names” have tested positive for coronavirus

Nigeria’s preparedness for the deadly coronavirus disease is being questioned as it has emerged that the Italian man who has been confirmed as the country’s first coronavirus case was in the country for almost two full days before being isolated.

The Italian who flew in from Milan travelled through Lagos and is said to have visited Ogun state.

The case has prompted a scramble by authorities in Africa’s most populous country to try to “meet and observe” all who arrived on the same flight as the Italian and to identify the places he visited before going to the hospital.

The state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who is the chief incident commander in the efforts to contain the disease, while briefing the press this morning alongside the commissioner for health, Akin Abayomi, noted that the patient, who is now in strict isolation, is in stable condition and not developed any respiratory symptoms for now.
