Nigeria reports 1,544 COVID-19 infections, 12 deaths

COVID-19 second wave: Edo records 198 cases since December

Edo State government said it has recorded 198 cases since the second wave of coronavirus on December 1, 2020.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), has reported 1544 new COVID-19 infections in the country.

NCDC disclosed this via its verified Twitter account on Friday night.

The health agency reported that the country sadly recorded twelve additional deaths in the last 24 hours, raising the overall total in the nation since the start of the pandemic to 1,342.

It added that the new infections were recorded from 20 States and the Federal Capital Territory, in the last 24 hours.

Lagos State still tops the chart with 739 new cases recorded, with plateau and Abuja coming distant second and third with 168 and 153 new cases respectively.

However, a total of 97,478 samples have been confirmed positive for COVID-19, but 78,552 patients have recovered; 17,584 are currently active cases.
