Nigeria records more recoveries than new COVID-19 cases in one day

Nigeria discharged 649 COVID-19 patients as against 626 new cases that tested positive for the virus in 24 hours, according to figures released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in its update for Thursday published just before midnight yesterday.

This is the first time in weeks that the number of persons discharged in one day exceeded the new cases recorded across the country.

A breakdown of the news cases shows that Lagos recorded 193 positive cases, FCT 85, Oyo 41, Edo 38, Kwara 34, Abia 31, Ogun 29, Ondo 28, Rivers 26, Osun 21, and Akwa Ibom 18.

Others include Delta with 18 new cases, Enugu 15, Kaduna 13, Plateau 11, Borno 8, Bauchi 7, Adamawa 5, Gombe 4, and Sokoto 1.

The country has 27,110 confirmed cases, with 10,801 discharged and 616 deaths, NCDC said.
