Lagos State University College of Medicine sets to begin COVID-19 test

Smarting from an approval by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM) is set to begin Covid-19 test in Lagos.

The acting provost of the college, Abiodun Adewuya disclosed this hint during the induction of the 15th set of medical doctors and dental surgeons, which held in Ikeja, at the weekend.

According to him, the molecular laboratory of the college has been granted licence to operate hence, the laboratory can conduct Covid-19 test among other tests.

Adewuya noted that the college has continued on its mandate as strategy partner with the state government in strengthening the health sector by producing highly trained medical personnel

He said with the induction of the 49 medical doctors and seven dental surgeons to further increase medical practitioners’s stock in Nigeria, the college till datr has churned out 858 medical personnel.

He observed that despite the pandemic, the college have continued to attracts research grants running into millions of Naira.

He thanked the Lagos State government for the support given to the college to achieve the feat of becoming the best medical college in Africa

Addressing the inductees, the vice chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Lanre Fagbohun, who was represented by the deputy vice chancellor, (admin), Oyedamola Oke, urged the inductees to be committed to excellence and professionalism.

He also admonished them to use their acquired competencies to further bring about desirable transformation in health care delivery.
