Mike Mku, erstwhile Senior Special  Assistant to former President Olusegun Obasanjo on human  trafficking and child labour, on Tuesday distributed food Items to the women of Gboko to cushion the effects of the coronavirus pandemic lockdown.

The food items included rice, beans and semovita.

Presenting the items, Mku appreciated the women for always standing by him throughout his political journey, while  acknowledging the uncommon love and support they gave and are still giving him.

He applauded the women for their hard work and resilience in these trying and hard times of COVID -19 in supporting and feeding their families.

In a statement by his media aide, Douglas Antse and emailed to our correspondent, the Board Chairman of Benue Investment and Property Company (BIPC), further stated that he was aware of the hardship faced by the women, especially in this period of coronavirus and the lockdown,  hence his decision to reach out to them in his little possible way.

Mku expressed gratitude to God and his immediate family for their support in ensuring that this gesture was actualised, stressing that it was a personal initiative and deliberate move to demonstrate his personal love for humanity and to also in his little way exhibit his humanitarian intentions.

To ensure fair play in the sharing of the food items,  Mku was on ground to make sure that the items reached all the 17 Council Wards in Gboko as they were all represented at the venue of sharing.

Expressing their appreciation, the women thanked Mku for the great gesture, as they also offered prayers for him.

Mku had earlier on Sunday distributed food items to five randomly selected churches in Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State.
