COVID-19: Edo govt directs civil servants to resume work Monday

The Edo State Government has directed civil servants from grade level 01-10 to resume work in their respective Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) with effect from Monday, September 21, 2020.

In a statement, Edo State Head of Service, through the Permanent Secretary, Aziegbemhin P.E, charged permanent secretaries and Heads of Extra-Ministerial Departments to ensure that there is strict compliance to COVID-19 protocols and regulations in their respective work places.

The statement reads: “Furtherance to Circular No. HOS 35/Vol.IV/48 dated 24th March, 2020 which directed officers below Grade 12 (excluding those on essential services) in the state public service to work from home following the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the state, Mr. Governor has directed all officers on Grade 01-10 to resume work in their respective Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) with effect from Monday 21st September, 2020.

“Consequently, permanent secretaries and Heads of Extra-Ministerial Departments are, by this circular, requested to ensure that there is strict compliance to COVID-19 Government protocols and regulations in their respective work places.”

According to the Head of Service, the relevant protocols and regulations include frequent washing of hands with soap under running water; use of alcohol-based sanitisers; observance of social distancing and wearing of facemasks.

“The COVID-19 Response Team is to issue guidelines for the resumption of all workers who have, hitherto, been working from home. These guidelines will be made available shortly.

“The contents of this Circular should be brought to the attention of all officers for their information and strict compliance,” the statement said.
