Bayelsa records second Covid-19 related death

DRASA partners government to tackle COVID-19

Bayelsa State has recorded its second Covid-19 related death, according to a statement by Jones Stow, Director of Public Health in the state Ministry of Health and member of the Bayelsa State COVID-19 Task Force.

Stow described the victim as a “middle-aged Bayelsan” who was presented a week ago while critically ill at one of the public hospitals.

He said the victim, name unknown, also had symptoms suggestive of kidney disease, had been managed as such and even had some sessions of dialysis.

The victim was due for a final dialysis session on Monday, June 1 before he passed away on Sunday, May 31st.

Stow also disclosed that “Further clinical investigations revealed he also had signs suggestive of a possible Covid-19 infection.”

According to the statement, “his test result was among the nine positive results announced by the NCDC for Bayelsa on the 31st of May 2020.”

Stow said the deceased has been buried by the Covid -19 Safe Burial Team and the burial was witnessed by his relatives and friends.
