WOI not a scam, says Dukwe

Charles Dukwe, chairman, Project New Nation, has said that Women in Oil Initiative (WOI) is not a scam but a response to President Goodluck Jonathan’s 35 percent affirmative on women participation in government.

Dukwe explained that WOI is duly registered in Nigeria with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and aims to leverage some of the N30 billion per day that is generated from the Nigerian oil and gas industry.

The initiative with partners in Canada, he said, is to better the life of the average, forsaken, unknown and neglected Nigerian woman.

“This is the realistic and tangible meaning of the transformation agenda. We have taken ample difficult and resource consuming approach to enlighten the most simple of Nigerian women from market traders to teachers, widows, housewives, police and army wives associations, civil servants, unemployed and women in the most interior villages on the policy the president has enacted and how we are now leveraging on it to bring a ray of sunlight to their lives”.

Dukwe said over 40,000 women across the country have embraced the initiative and registered to support it and others being anticipated.
