The need for increased online presence of Small and Medium scale Enterprises (SMES), in achieving improved business discovery and customer engagement, has been adduced for the newly launched platform by VConnect, Nigeria’s largest search engine for local businesses.

“The new upgrade rolled out on the website, prioritises business discovery and engagement,” reads a statement by VConnect on the official launch.

The company will be the newest entrant into Nigeria’s e-commerce market, noted to record transactions volume of about 300,000 online orders on daily basis, and $2 million dollars of weekly revenue which translates to $104 million annually.

“Our goal is to provide complete information that helps users to find and connect with businesses that are right for them. VConnect isn’t just a business search engine; it’s a discovery and engagement platform,” says Deepankar Rustagi, VConnect Founder, and General Manager.

Meher Melwani, Communications Manager, VConnect expatiates on this, telling BusinessDay that “We didn’t drift away from the search engine; we just added the market place feature to it to give Nigerian SMEs an added bonus.”

“We are excited about this,” says Ramanathan Solayappan, VConnect’s Product Manager. “This redesign doesn’t just provide the best user-experience in the history of VConnect, the new functionalities mean users can access information in an easy, relatable and deeply human way. We’ve stripped away the non-essentials to leave only the most relevant, distraction-free experience for our users.”
