Biggest brewer Nigerian Breweries has been hit by a fire outbreak which started in the early hours of Christmas.

The fire started at 5.30am, according to the officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

No death has so far been recorded and eyes witnesses say the fire affected only the factory section of the brewer.

Fire service and NEMA officials are currently battling the fire and no one has ascertained the cause of the disaster.

According to Kufre Ekanem, corporate affairs advicer of Nigerian Breweries, the fire only destroyed the packaging materials of the company, particularly plastic plates, adding that the situation has been brought under control.

Fire disasters are usually caused by electric faults and incineration. They are common during Harmattan seasons.
