UNICEM launches 2015 safety month

United Cement Company of Nigeria Limited (UniCem) has formally declare open its ‘2015 Safety Month’ with the theme: Be Open, Committed and Uncompromising.

Declaring the event  open at the company’s Plant, Mfamosing, Akamkpa Local Government Area the Managing Director of the Company  Olivier Lenoir said  “In line with  our commitment to do better; we are raising the bar in 2015 by charging ourselves and our contractors to attain the level 3 target we have set by being open, more committed and uncompromising as it relates to safety and dedicating the entire month of June to promoting Health and Safety value with the aim of achieving the following objectives:

Reinforcing our commitment to safety as a value in our organization  Getting our staff and contractors become more committed to Health and Safety  Raise more awareness on Road Safety among our staff, their spouses, kids and the community at large.  Promote good health while creating access to health care for our partnering community members.”

The month-long event which commenced 18th May, 2015 with activities such as Energy Isolation, Risk Assessment, Personal Protective Equipment, Community Health Week, Defensive Driving Training for staff and their spouses, Road Safety Awareness Campaigns, Health Talk, Road Safety Save-kids initiative, Transporters Day, and Football Competition.
