Promasidor invests $12m in Ghana

Promasidor Ghana Limited has invested approximately $12million into infrastructural development over the past three years in Ghana.

This investment is to enable the company improve on its infrastructure to meet its growth aspirations and subsequently impact on production.

Olivier Thiry, managing director of Promasidor in Ghana disclosed this at the inaugurating and sod-cutting ceremony for the final phase of the four-step infrastructural development project in Accra recently.

He added that the project which started two years ago has led to a new dairy factory, an expanded culinary factory, additional offices and currently the final phase of an ultra-modern Accra Distribution Centre (ADC).

Oliver Thiry stated that the company has also improved on its human resource, from 23 staff in 1999 to over 600 employees currently. In his submission, “Our brand portfolio has equally grown from a single brand to six brands and eight brand extensions,” he added.

On his part, the minister of Trade and Industry, Haruna Iddrisu said that the government of Ghana was committed to assisting companies that use local raw materials for production.

He added that a new incentive package will be made available to the company to encourage more growth and expansion. This, he said, will help strengthen the local manufacturing sector to help the country attain middle-income status.

“Taxes on the clearance of imported goods will be reduced to provide a congenial atmosphere for the private sector to succeed,” he added.

The minister further congratulated Promasidor (producers of Cowbell) for adding value to infrastructure and the quality products that will emerge from the company to local consumers.
