In a bid to ensure customers satisfaction, the Management of Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) has promised to inject about N600 million into the system to improve electricity supply through the ongoing projects within its network.
Abiodun Ajifowobaje , managing director and chief executive of the company gave the assurance during the zone customer’s forum in Lagos.
According to him the board has approved about N600 million for quick intervention on transformers installations and pre-paid meter installation, which has begun under the pilot metering schemes.
“Our board under the quick “ win win’’ intervention approved about N600 million for us to do all projects including metering, commissioning of transformers projects that are ongoing, installation of vandalised transformers, re-metering and some over head line clearance which often cause network disability,” Ajifowobaje said.
The IKEDC boss said that about 30 transformers had been installed to improve electricity supply, while about 115 pending transformers projects ongoing in various site are due for completion within the next one month.
He said that about 42 transformers which were vandalised before the new management took over in NOV.1, had been restored under the new management.
Ajifowobaje said that the essence of the forum is to create mutual customers interaction between IKEDC and customers towards customers satisfaction.
He said that “we are doing what we call customer’s forum; we conducted customer’s forum in our eight business units so that we can use the opportunities in meeting with them and tell them what we doing and our plan for the future.
He assured customers of IKEDC continuous customers’ forum exercise to update them on company’s new products and future plans.
“We also want to create more mutual interaction on way to improve and serve our customers better,” he said.
About 6,000 customers he said had paid for pre-paid meter and IKEDC had commenced metering while about 7,000 customers were also targeted to be installed with meters within the next month.
“Before the end year , the management will come out with the board decision on the new meter installation ,” he said, adding that the company has commenced installation for customers who had paid in the last three years.
He however, appealed to customers within the network to alert the management over any suspicious movement from any vandals on the company’s equipment, adding that protecting the equipment will go a long way in ensuring power supply stability.
Ajifowobaje said that the management of IKEDC had also visited the Nigerian Army, State Security Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigerian Police and the State Government towards supporting the company in protecting their equipments.
It will recalled that the customer’s forum took place in eight business units which are Ikeja, Ojudu, Ogba, Oshodi, Ikotun, Ipaja, Somolu and Abule-Egba.
