Oil firms plan $400 million modular refineries in delta communities

Wright Global Group, a private oil firm has outlined plans to set up modular refineries that will cost between $300 million to $400 million in two communities in Delta State.

Isaac Wright, managing director of the firm made the disclosure when he paid a courtesy visit to Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa in Asabaon Friday.

Wright said the refineries would be solely funded by the organization.

He said the refineries would  be established in Escravos and Koko communities in Warri South and Warri North local government areas respectively and scheduled to be completed in a couple of years.

In his remark, the State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa who commended the management of the organization for the initiative noted that the modular refineries would help to reduce the perennial scarcity of petroleum products in the country as well as at affordable rates.

Okowa also observed that the projects would create jobs form teeming youths in the country.

He added that the establishment of modular refineries at the oil- rich communities will make the refineries close to the sources of raw materials and also provide jobs opportunities for the people of the state.

“Modular refineries will provide jobs for our people, it will bring job opportunities close to the people and also bring the product close to the people, and the products would be brought to the market at a reasonable rate.

“We will support this partnership especially, with the fact that it will provide job for our people and you are providing the funding 100 per cent. It is our hope that everything works; the government of Nigeria is also supporting the establishment of modular refineries because that is the right way to go.

“Delta State is largely peaceful and we are working very hard to ensure that our youths are employed for our investors to have an enabling environment to work; we are investor-friendly people and we will give you the best of support we can give to you as a state government,” he said.
