Nobex Technology Limited, a Lagos based company is to launch an indigenous agro-allied food processor machine into the Nigerian market. The idea of the new technology is to boost preservation of agricultural produce thereby reducing post-harvest wastages in the country.
The initiative is supported by the World Bank with the collaboration of the Federal Government under the West Africa Agricultural Productivity Programme (WAAPP) Nigeria.
The machine is a multi-purpose fruits dryer processor for preserving excess produce such as mangoes, fruits, banana, plantain and tomatoes. Installations of equipment at the factory in Idimu/Ikotun area of Lagos are 95 percent complete.
Sheu Salau recently led a World Bank delegation to the site, alongside James Apochi, Ag. national project coordinator, WAAP-Nigeria, of the federal ministry of finance.
Idowu Adeoya, managing director of Nobex Technologies Ltd, explained that “the minimum and maximum capacity the processor can produce daily varies according to type of the machine and quantity of the produce available for processing.
“Majorly, the aim is to reduce post harvest wastes by adding value to agriculture as well as boost income to farmers and investors.”
Adeoya added that the company also specialises in the design and fabrication of post-harvest crops processing equipment like multi-cassava processing, oil seed processing, animal feed, drying, cleaning and storage.
“The company supplies machinery and complete factory equipment needed to convert almost every crop grown in Africa to human and animal feed.”
“We produce other equipment other than flash dryers, but we have realised that the major problem of food processing and processors in Nigeria is drying. Drying reduces the moisture content and this is the technique to preserve food, eradicate wastage and ensure food security.
That is why I decided to stick to fabricating mainly dryers. Other machines we do well are oil extractors, threshers, fruit processors and feed milling machines,” he said.
