NAEE Lauds NAMA on training of 100 air traffic engineers

The management of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), has been commended for its doggedness and determination in building capacity of critical personnel within the agency.

The President of the National Association of Air-Traffic Engineers (NAEE), Ebenezer Makanjuola who made this commendation during this year’s NAEE Day celebration held at NAMA headquarters in Lagos, particularly noted with delight that in the year 2015 alone, over 100 of his members benefited from various professional trainings in areas such as Air Traffic Safety Engineering Services (ATSES) Course, Linux Appreciation Course and Microwave Link.

He stressed that another 70 Air Traffic Engineers from various zones in the country also attended workshops and seminars organized by the agency within the same year.

While appreciating the agency for the recently concluded Runway Safety Workshop held in Lagos, Makanjuola also canvassed for more training of his members across the country in Thales/ Navaids Manufacturer Equipment Course to meet the standard requirement of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

The NAEE boss also expressed satisfaction with the report of the recent calibration exercise prior to the ICAO audit, which certified the nation’s Instrument Landing Systems (ILS), Localizers and other navigational aids as highly serviceable, noting that “such a favourable report shows that NAMA Air Traffic Engineers can stand their own anywhere in the world.”

He however enjoined members to be selfless and dedicated to their duties, even as he tasked them to maintain high professional standards and etiquettes, in line with the noble tradition of the organization.

Earlier in his remarks, Emma Anasi, Acting Managing Director of NAMA, who was represented on the occasion by Navaids,  Mojisola Dokun, Director of Safety Electronics and Engineering Services, noted that role of air traffic engineers remains critical in ensuring that navigational aids perform optimally at all times.

Anasi congratulated the organization on its 34 years of existence, maintaining that the agency would continue to give priority to training and retraining of critical personnel in line with its mandate to continuously enhance safety of air navigation in Nigeria
