With eyes on Nigeria’s power sector potentials and the growing need for the new investors to find a lasting solution to the nation’s energy crisis, Mikano International Limited and Schneider Electric have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that enables both companies to leverage their respective areas of strength for their mutual benefits.

The agreement is also expected to enable a stronger and broader diversification in energy and automation management in the new power sector of the economy.

Specifically, both companies agreed to put resources together to ensure supply of quality and affordable technical products to the market, to support efforts of the Federal Government in ensuring uninterrupted power supply.

Under the terms of the agreement, Mikano will sell and distribute the full complement of Schneider Electric’s world-class low voltage electrical distribution solutions using its extensive geographical spread across Nigeria. The low voltage products consist of transformers, medium voltage circuit breakers, distribution boards, among others.

The agreement will also enable Mikano grow its business portfolio and benefit from Schneider Electric’s products and solutions, especially for its own needs in generator control panels and systems.

The signing ceremony, which took place in Lagos, had Mofid Karameh, chairman/CEO, Mikano International Limited, and Marcel Hochet, country president, Schneider Electric, do the actual signing with Francois Sastourne, the consul general of France and officials of both organisations also gracing the occasion.

According to Christian Farine, managing director, Mikano International Limited, the products range will fit the full market requirements in basic and in advance features for low voltage products as well as a full range in medium voltage products.

“These products will be added to the already existing quality products distributed by Mikano, who will ensure availability of Schneider Electric products across the country through our different branches in Lagos, Port Harcourt, Abuja and Kano. Mikano sales team will be available to provide technical support for all questions related to the Schneider Electric products,” he said.

Describing the partnership as a welcome development, he said it would provide powerful strategically-related values and amplify their sales and technical network. “It is to provide our valued customers satisfactory solutions for their power requirements with quality products at competitive pricing and committed to maintaining customer satisfaction by consistently meeting and exceeding their expectations,” he said.

Marcel Hochet, the country president, Schneider Electric, also lauded the technical expertise of Mikano, saying the partnership will quite enjoy the enormous talents and huge network of Mikano which will eventually bring value proposition to all end users. Besides, it will also enhance productivity and make it easier to work together.
