Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, LCCI established in 1888 with the objectives to create and facilitate commercial and industrial opportunities and promote the interest of its members and business community has admitted 160 new firms as members.

This brings the registered members of the body to about 1,700. The new members come from different sectors including oil and gas, manufacturing, agro-allied, technology and services.

Addressing the new firm members, the president of LCCI, Remi Bello said the chamber has been dedicated to the promotion of commerce and industry  in Nigeria and “it is always a thing of pride to see several businesses who have observed with interest and admiration the many valuable activities of the chamber, strive to become part of the Chamber”.

He said the objective of the chamber is encapsulated in its mission which is to promote and protect the interest of its members and the business community at large through public advocacy.

The chamber also articulates the opinion of the business community on commerce, industry and mines, agriculture and the economy as a whole and offers numerous services to its members, especially in trade promotion, business information, business development, arbitration and mediation services.

The president reminded the new members of the chambers’ cherished tradition of high ethical standards, integrity and good corporate governance in business practice. “As businessmen and women, we have obligations which transcend profit making. We should pay adequate attention to the integrity of our business transactions and practices”, he cautioned.

Also speaking, Babatunde Paul Ruwase, chairman membership committee said since the inception, LCCI has been meticulous in its membership admission process in order to preserve its enviable image.
