Koniku strengthens board with 4 new appointments

Akintoye Akindele, chairman/CEO of Platform Capital, a new member of Koniku board.

Koniku Inc. has announced four new appointments into its board, expected to bring their wealth of experience and business acumen to bear on the company.

They are Kevin McAleenan, former acting secretary of Homeland Security and Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP); Akintoye Akindele, chairman/CEO of Platform Capital; Markus Pertl, chairman/CEO of the Stern Stewart Institute, and Ivan Genadiev, partner at Andon Okapi Holdings and former COO at Jumia.

Koniku closed its Series A financing on December 13. The round provides the company with the necessary resources and momentum to deliver on her objectives.

Kevin Mc Aleenan is the CEO of Pangian & operating partner at AE Industrial, bringing over 14 years of experience in the defence and government services industries. McAleenan currently sits on the boards of AE Industrial’s portfolio companies: AMPAC, BigBear.ai, Gryphon, Pangiam and UAV Factory. Prior to joining AE Industrial, McAleenan served as the acting secretary of Homeland Security, as designated by President Trump in April of 2019. Before this appointment, he served as commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), having been confirmed by the U.S. Senate in March 2018. Previously, he had served as CBP acting commissioner since January 2017. In December 2011, he was named acting assistant commissioner of CBP’s Office of Field Operations.

Akintoye Akindele is an investor, entrepreneur, lecturer and philanthropist. He is the chairman of Platform Capital; Unicorn; and CEO/chairman of Diatom Impact. The founder of Synergy Capital Managers and Advisers and was managing partner of Synergy Capital Managers up until November 2019.

Ivan, on his part, has 20 years of operating, investment, and advisory experience with transactions in excess of $100 billion globally. Most recently, Ivan was managing director at Alta Semper Capital, a healthcare and consumer private equity investor in Africa.
