Noticed for its drive to provide quality products to various segments of the Nigerian society, AFP furniture production, a subsidiary of Julius Berger, has been honoured with the best “Home and Interior Design of the Year Award” for 2016.
The company received the award on Wednesday, July 20 during the 10th Abuja Housing Development Show (AHDS), an event which is held annually in Abuja, the Nigerian capital.
While explaining what the award means to AFP, Moses Duku, who is Julius Berger’s head of media relations, said it was an encouraging experience to be recognised for creativity, hard work, as well as excellent product and service delivery.
“This appreciation award to the AFP lends credence to the expertise of the company, to the extent that objective and satisfied end-users of our product and services are enthusiastically testifying about the great quality, fitness and purpose of enjoying strength of our output,” he said.
Duku also stressed that the company has been reputed for using local resources to create globally competitive products and services from its Nigerian factory.
Speaking on the relevance of the Nigerian housing and development awards, Duku stated that the prestigious awards have a real capacity to inspire very healthy and productive business competition in the industry, in terms of increased research and development in the sector.
“Such situation would have a multiplier effect on employment generation and gross domestic product and income to further fuel and expand national industrial growth” Duku further explained.
According to Uzoewulu Uche, who is the sales manager for AFP, the company was established since 1992, but stands the test of time for being a premier furniture manufacturer that is fully subscribed to locally produced content.
Uche hinted that the company at a time had over 600 local Nigerian employees, which was a way of supporting the Federal Government’s drive to considerably tackle the increasing rate of unemployment.
He noted that the company specialises in “office, domestic, kitchen, upholstered furniture, including internal doors, wall paneling, window decor and a host of other items,” adding further that AFP’s objective at the housing show was to create more awareness.
Noting that furniture business is evolving, he stated that their targets are individuals, corporations or businesses interested in an unrivalled quality with regards to their furniture preferences.
While describing their output as exceptional, Uche said that the company’s local contents in a way, is improving the economic situation of the country by investing in the local market.
