They said the company’s projects in the community will help to develop their community hence they pledged their support to the company.
Henry Konyeaso, executive assistant to the chairman of Integrated Oil & Gas, Emmanuel Ihenacho, while delivering the chairman’s goodwill message to the community said the company was happy to support them.
He said the recent sponsorship of the events to mark the Children’s Day on May 27, was part of its commitment to the host community.
“We commend Itun-agan and all the other communities on the island for your confidence in Integrated Oil & Gas and your strong support for the development projects our company plans to bring to the island,” he said.
Ikuesan said,“This year’s children day celebration was the most colourful and best the community has ever seen and this is due to the presence of your company in our land,” Ikuesan said.
The event featured march-past and cultural dances by the gaily-dressed children. Fourteen nursery/primary schools including a junior secondary school took part in the competition which took place at the Green Pasture Private School field, Itun-agan.
The high-point of the ceremony was the cultural displays and march-past by the fourteen participating schools with Harriet Akano Integrated Oil & Gas, Head of Human Resources/Administration, taking the salute.
Emmanuel Iheanacho said Integrated Oil and Gas does not only have plans to develop the Island and bring basic social amenities to the neglected communities, but also want to see that children from the island are gainfully employed.
Integrated Oil and Gas has committed to building a modular, scalable 20,000 barrels per day Greenfield refinery/topping plant on a site, located off the coast of Apapa port zone in Lagos State.
As at date, no physical development activity for the refinery project has commenced on the proposed site, and the project is yet to progress to the construction phase pending all approvals from relevant agencies.
Several other relevant statutory studies including the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) studies have been initiated, and are in process and are currently being developed for the project, prior to the filing of the statutory application for the next stage of the licensing process.
However Integrated Oil and Gas says a refinery is just one of the legacy projects they have planned for the community the company also want to deliver projects in marine, logistics, tourism and transportation.
