As HR Guide, a human resources publication and consultancy firm, holds its annual (third edition) summit tomorrow, with the theme ‘The Challenges, Opportunities and Implications of Social Media on Employee Engagement, Productivity, Learning and Development,’ the organisers say the benefits will stand the test of time.
This was said in a pre-summit meeting by Napoleon Omomila, managing editor of the publication, in Lagos recently.
Omomila said “apart from participants understanding how to activate, deploy and utilise social media for individual and corporate growth, some other benefits include understanding how to develop social media policy as an integral part of corporate policy and appreciating the value of social media to the business environment.
“Others are understanding the corporate and individual risks posed by social media and how to mitigate such risks; ability to develop/know your boundaries in the use of social media; understanding how to manage corporate information through social media, and the ability to develop corporate learning tools using social media.”
According to Olalekan Abdul, operations controller (who is central to the organisation of the summit), speakers expected at the summit include J.M.K. Ogunkeyede, director, Odu’a Group, as chairman of the occasion; Tokunbo Talabi, president/CEO, Superflux Group, as keynote speaker; Mark Abani, country director, Crown Agents Limited, as guest speaker.
Others include Yemi Adegoke, chairman, Prosolve Group, as one of the panellists, while other panellists are Regina Olubunmi Fabamwo, director-general, PSSDC, Lagos State; Ayodele Jaiyesimi, group head, HCMD, First Bank of Nigeria Limited, and Tunde Adebayo, human resources manager, Honeywell Flour Mills plc.
Abdul said the sub-themes that would be considered include: Perspectives of social interactions in the workplace; How should organisations handle assess to social media during work-hours? Challenges of managing corporate information via social media; How employees can tap on the vast opportunities available on social media; The place of social media in employees’ learning and development, and Social media motivations, engagements and employee productivity.
All categories of employees, across various sectors, are expected to attend this year’s summit, to enhance their daily productivity.
