Fidelis Ayebae, managing director, Fidson Healthcare plc, has urged healthcare and pharmaceutical companies in Nigeria to embrace the idea of listing on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) in order to grow their business portfolio.
Making this known to BusinessDay, Ayebae says listing at the NSE is a deliberate and strategic decision companies must make if they are to expand their businesses, outlining the benefits of listing on the NSE to include easy access to adequate and amenable capital to grow and expand the business, diversification of shareholders’ base and resultant broadened idea base for the company, perpetuity of the company, irrespective of the absence of the original founders and wealth creation.
Relating his experience, Ayebae, who founded Fidson Pharmaceuticals, says listing the company has proved to be a beneficial decision than any disadvantage.
The need for Nigerian healthcare firms to list on the NSE comes as Fidson Healthcare won the award for ‘Nigerian Pharmaceutical Company of the Year’ at the Nigerian Healthcare Excellence Awards, organised by Global Health Project and Resources (GHPR) in collaboration with Anadach Group, USA.
The award, which held in Lagos recently, is to acknowledge positive developments in the health sector and the ability of individuals and corporate organisations to promote change and herald quality performance in Nigeria.
Receiving the award on behalf of Fidson Healthcare, Olugbenga Olayeye, sales and marketing director, Fidson Healthcare, says the company is not in the pharmaceutical business just to manufacture and sell drugs, but to add value to the lives of Nigerians through its several healthcare solutions.
Olayeye states that the company is committed to delivering top-notch healthcare solutions to Nigerians through its array of products and services, as it will not relent in that commitment.
The Nigerian Healthcare Excellence Awards recognises the rapid growth in the healthcare sector and the capacity of individuals and corporate organisations to influence and set new performance standards in Nigeria.
