Guinness Nigeria PLC has appointed Rotimi Odusola, as its new company secretary. This was contained in an issuer’s announcement the company recently sent to the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
Guinness said, “In his role as company secretary, Rotimi will guide and support the Board of Directors of Guinness Nigeria in ensuring compliance with legal and statutory requirements. He will also continue to provide strategic leadership to the legal function ensuring delivery of excellent commercial and pragmatic legal support to the company. Odusola brings to this role about two decades of leadership experience in broad multi-functional roles spanning corporate and regulatory affairs as well as commercial legal management.”
Prior to joining Guinness, Odusola was a senior manager, Commercial Legal in MTN Nigeria Communications Limited. “At MTN Nigeria, he was responsible for providing proactive legal advice and support to the various units of the multinational telecommunications business in Nigeria,” the brewer stated.
Similarly, the company has also announced Omobolaji Johnson as one of its non-executive directors.
Omobolaji Johnson was Nigeria’s first Minister of Information and Communication Technology, appointed in 2011 by the former President Goodluck Jonathan. During her time as minister, the percentage of Internet users in the country nearly doubled from 24 percent (2010) to 43 percent (2014). She served meritoriously in that capacity until May 2015.
Omobola is a Lead Partner and General Partner of TLcom Capital LLP. She heads the Lagos office and focused on the launch and execution of the National Broadband Plan, and supported the Nigerian technology industry, including the pioneering involvement of the government in a local Venture Capital fund and a network of start-up incubators.
These appointments were confirmed to have been made last Friday, January 29, 2016 at the company’s board meeting.
