GLOBACOM, the leading gsm firm is seeking to redefine Nigeria’s data market with its aggressive pricing plan.

GLO’s “enjoy our new data overload” offers a 10G data plan at an incredible N2500 and a 24G data plan at N5,000, about a quarter of the current market rates.

GLO which already says it is the largest data network, now hopes to be even bigger with its current market moves according analysts.

Data has become the new battle front for telecoms firms in Nigeria as the voice market shrinks with a falling average revenue per user, ARPU as subscribers switch to data.

GLO has its own dedicated submarine cable which makes life a little easier for the firm.

It is unclear how its competitors will respond but analysts say the market development will in the end benefit subscribers.
