Pirjo Suomela-Chowdhury, Ambassador of Finland to Nigeria, has called for strong trade and economic ties between her country and Nigeria.

Suomela-Chowdhury made the disclosure when she visited Tony Ejinkonye, the president of Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited (ABUCCI), in Abuja.

A statement by Jude Igwe, vice president, media, ABUCCI, said the aim of the envoy’s mission was to seek avenues for strong trade and economic relationship between the respective countries.

The statement added that the embassy was poised to collaborate with the chamber to work on a synergy that would improve bilateral trade relationship in respective countries, while noting that there were some notable Finnish companies in Nigeria doing direct and indirect businesses, the envoy observed several areas of improvement.

The statement said there are many Finnish companies seeking to do business in Nigeria particularly in the area of health and well-being industry.

The statement noted that the embassy is putting together a one-day seminar organised by the mission to bring all stakeholders in the health and well being Industry together.

Tony Ejinkonye president of Abuja Chamber, according to the statement, lauded the ambassador’s visit, stating that the chamber’s focus during his tenure was to seek for trade cooperation between Nigerian businessmen and their foreign counterparts.
