FBN Insurance, medical doctors sign MoU on group life scheme

FBN Insurance Limited and Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics of Nigeria (Lagos chapter) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to provide a group life assurance scheme and professional indemnity cover for their members.

Supo Sogelola, assistant general manager (business development), FBN Insurance, who signed the document on behalf of the company, says starting today the agreement is to provide group life scheme and professional indemnity cover for members of the Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics of Nigeria.

According to him, the group life cover provides a N1.5 million cover per medical practitioner and also a professional indemnity cover of N1 million per practitioner.

In Nigeria today, there are greater awareness and penetration of insurance, as people are taking advantage of the benefits of insurance, he says, saying with this agreement we look forward whereby other professional bodies will key into it because there are advantages in every sector buying insurance for their lives and businesses.

To him, the doctors have seen the advantage and benefits of the cover. As you heard in the speech, when they lost one of their members, they could do very little, but with the insurance cover they would be able to provide reasonable amount to the family of the deceased member.

He therefore urges other professional bodies in the country to take advantage of the benefits of insurance to insure their lives, property and businesses.
