EXMAN trains students in marketing to bridge skills gap

Marketing experts offer ways to revamp Nigeria’s image

The Experiential Marketers Association of Nigeria (EXMAN) has trained communication students from the University of Ibadan in experiential marketing to bridge the gap between academia and industry to develop the future workforce.

This was disclosed by Tolulope Medebem, EXMAN President at the association’s 11th annual general meeting in Ibadan, Oyo State.

“The association’s vision was to nurture talent within the experiential marketing sector, bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, and shape the industry’s future workforce,” he said.

Medebem and Angela Makinwa, vice president of EXMAN addressed the challenges in the marketing industry and country in 2023, noting that the current administration of the association was working to ensure members had sustainable careers.

“Our executive mission was set up on the acronym of THRIVE with each letter standing for a goal as a team. It represents Training and Thought Leadership, Harmony, Relationship, Inclusiveness, Value, and Engagement,” Medebem added.

Makinwa highlighted the association’s training initiatives, including a partnership with the Lagos Business School.

“EXMAN and LBS/ Pan-Atlantic University on February 1, 2024, launched an Experiential Marketing Management Programme, aimed at increasing knowledge and awareness of experiential marketing,” she said.

She added that the program provided credible and worthwhile on-the-job training and overall manpower development with the inaugural program hosting 42 participants, 37 of whom were EXMAN members.

Dare Oyegbola, chairman of the EXMAN membership committee said that in the year under review, the association received applications from about ten agencies to join the association.

“The eight newly inducted agencies completed their registrations and met the requirements to be admitted into EXMAN, joining over 60 other agencies that collectively generate annual billings exceeding N30 billion,” he said.
