The management of Ikeja Electric has said that the essence of Consumer Enumeration, Technical Audit and Asset Mapping (CETAAM) Project which it has embarked on is geared towards ensuring seamless update of its customer database and platform for accurate deployment of electrical equipment for improved power supply.
According to Abiodun Ajifowobaje, managing director and chief executive officer of the company, while explaining details of the project, he said it is also aimed at capturing the energy being sent to the company and the energy distributed to its customers.
He said realize the project it is therefore imperative to ensure all its assets are available and functioning effectively.
He further explained what each segment of the project aimed to achieve within the shortest possible time. Consumer Enumeration, he said will capture the consumer base of ikeja Electric (IE) energy consumers, which will then help increase business efficiency through accurate, efficient resource allocation and management.
As for the Technical Audit exercise, this aspect will help confirm the status of feeder lines at the different Voltage levels and associated facilities within the IE distribution network determine the redundancy of the installed capacities at the Transmission, Injection and Distribution ends and recommend rehabilitation plan based on findings.
“Asset Mapping – will enable the Company keep an asset register of its entire asset electronically using the ESRI ArcGIS system while Index numbers are to be imprinted on distribution network assets” he said.
The projected which was formally launched in September 2015 and kicked off in October 2015 and will run till April 2016.
The benefits to be derived from the projects are as follows; easy Identification of existing customers, proper planning for potential customer expansion, reduced estimated billings, Improvement the quality of Power supply and response time for fault clearing.
Others includes effective Power distribution, recognize and replace denigrated/non-functioning assets, Identification of obsolete and damaged equipment like broken poles for prompt replacement, reduction of Power Interruptions, Improved Engineering safety standard and effective customer service delivery.
