Members of MediaFuse-Dentsu have cleaned strategic locations in the Ikeja GRA, Lagos State as part of activities to mark the company’s 2023 volunteering day tagged “One Day For Change”.
One Day For Change is a global volunteering event held in alignment with Earth Day. This year, Dentsu in the Nigerian market focused its volunteering efforts on nature and the circular economy.
This is as employees of the company gave back to the community by picking up used plastic bottles and other waste, according to a press statement by Sodiq Oyeleke, corporate communications manager, Dentsu Nigeria Group.
As part of Dentsu’s social commitment, the Nigerian employees also distributed pre-owned clothes and other items to them.
Emeka Okeke, CEO, MediaFuse-Dentsu Group described the company as a superpower in motivating positive actions.
“For the first time, we celebrated this year’s One Day For Change with other dentsu markets globally. The day aimed to build a clean and better environment for our local community and distribute pre-owned items to people who needed them in our environment,” he said.

“This is a great opportunity to make a positive impact on the environment and the lives of those within our community. By donating pre-owned items, we helped to reduce waste and gave others the chance to benefit from something that might otherwise have been thrown away.”
According to Okereke, we also successfully influenced attitudes and shaped behaviour during the event as passers-by were motivated to join in the cleaning. This is one of the ways we are promoting inclusiveness. We firmly believe that together, we can help one another and make our community a greater place.
Okeke added that One Day For Change allowed the integrated communications firm to deepen its relationship with its host community, Ikeja Residents Association, Lagos State.
“Beyond the economic impact of the event, it was a unique opportunity to collectively come together to volunteer with our local communities, galvanise our people around a common goal, and make a difference where it matters most,” he said.
