To combat food wastage in Nigeria estimated to be 80 percent of food production as part of a global cost of $750 billion annually, Danfoss Group has introduced smart cooling solutions that employ energy efficient systems into the Nigerian market.

Speaking on the company’s official unveiling at an event with the theme “Engineering Nigeria for a Better Tomorrow,” that held at Eko Hotels & Suite in Lagos, Youseef Zitouni, Sales Manager, Middle East and Africa, said that the company is geared towards providing components that will aid commercial and industrial cooling systems using energy efficient means.

“We are present in 99 percent of the cold chain from manufacture, transport and storage systems.”

Danfoss Group, with headquarters in Denmark is a global leader in energy efficient solutions, providing accessories and components for industrial and commercial refrigeration. The company also offer smart energy solutions to boost the renewable energy market

For the Nigerian market, the company’s core areas of focus are providing commercial and industrial air conditioning and cooling systems, sales and maintenance of drives and components for heating and cooling systems and components for renewable energy systems

The company which has been in operations for over 80 years officially unveiled in Nigeria on February 17 to directly supply their products to their distributors in Nigeria and tackle the menace of counterfeiting of their products.

Some of the company’s product showcased at their official unveiling includes scroll compressors for refrigeration applications. They are equipped with energy saving systems including a vapour injection that boosts cooling capacity by more than 20 percent according to the company’s literature.

To optimize food safety in supermarkets and shopping malls, the company announced that their refrigeration systems reduces energy consumption by up to 33 percent  and increased savings can be enjoyed with additional store utilities like lighting and HVAC (Heating, ventilation and air conditioning).

Levant Tasken, group regional president, Turkey, Middle East & Africa said the company operates in 25 countries, employing 24,000 people and produces approximately 250,000 components each day at the company’s 76 factories.

Kolawole Omoyele, Danfoss Business development manager, also highlights another important objective for their unveiling in Nigeria at this time.
