The management of Dreamworld Africana Leisure Ltd, an amusement and theme park has disclosed that the Bank of Industry has disbursed a substantial sum of N350m in its current budget for expansion.
The already financed N1b naira project, which has been made possible by its equity holders, is said to be borne out of the desire to promote and celebrate the culture of the host location and Nigeria as a country.
Speaking on the Leisure park’s plans for expansion, Jude Attoh, Managing Director, Dreamworld Africana said that in the next weeks, the management intends to add more facilities and attractions which includes the Go Kart Arena, Mini Game Arcade and the Dinosaur Arena, adding that plans are on the pipeline to launch its Christmas season 23days of Christmas event with the lunch of the Dinosaur arena and Delta Day on December 12.
He further disclosed that in the coming months, additional facilities would include at least ten additional rides, the water splash, 5D/7D cinemas, A Rail Walk Ride, Sporting facilities that will include soccer, lawn tennis, basket ball, beach volley, indoor event centre, 4 screen cinemas and many more.
Attoh added that other facilities that would be added later include a technology park/shopping mall, a virtual reality centre to give the great African Experience and a hotel.
He stressed on the objective of setting up the park, which is to reduce the level of Nigerians travelling abroad and reduce the huge amount spent on travelling abroad for tourism and recreational activities will be achieved with the expansion plan in place.
According to Wale Mesionye, Acting Chairman Dreamworld African “Dreamworld Africana will not only showcase the most exciting places to visit in Africa, the Mountain Kilimanjaro’s, Great Pyramids of Egypt, Victoria Falls, amongst others, but celebrate and showcase the culture of Nigeria and we are starting with Delta state.”
“We plan to bring to Lagos one to two high profile events very months. Some of the events include water splash fair, Go-kart competition, Family fun Day, Jean Carnival etc.”
He stressed that the management aims to establish Dreamworld Africana, firmly in Nigeria and global tourism annual event calendar, adding that they envision visitors in their hundreds of thousands visiting the park annually, with the economic benefits in both local and foreign currency.
