Northern Nigeria is set to host its largest tech gathering, the Arewa Tech Fest 2024 to foster innovation, promote tech entrepreneurship, and drive economic development in Northern Nigeria.
According to a statement, the event would become a platform for showcasing the latest advancements in technology and digital solutions.
“The multi-state event is poised to become one of the most significant technology festivals in Africa,” it said.
It added that the event, convened by Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna State, will bring together a diverse array of tech enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, innovators, investors, and policymakers from across the region and beyond.
The maiden edition is scheduled to take place in Kano from September 25 to 26, 2024, with the backing of the Kano state government led by Abba Yusuf.
“The fest will feature a vibrant lineup of activities including keynote speeches, panel sessions, exhibitions, hackathons, and master classes. It will also feature the launch of the Arewa Tech Fund, aimed at providing financial support and resources to promising tech startups in Northern Nigeria,” the statement added.
Nasir El-Rufai said Arewa Tech Fest is a milestone event that highlights the potential of Northern Nigeria in the technology and innovation sectors.
“Our goal is to inspire and empower the next generation of tech leaders – particularly women and youth, providing them with the tools and resources needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving digital world,” he added.
The festival will feature speakers including the executive governors of Kano and Katsina States, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Emir of Kano, Benedict Oramah, president of Afreximbank, Sumaila Zubairu, CEO of Africa Finance Corporation, Amal Hassan, founder of Outsource Global and industry leaders who will share their insights on a range of panels, including fintech, tech for good, edutech, amongst others.
