In a very strategic move to deepen global best practice and professionalism in its real estate service offering, Alpha Mead Facilities Management and Services (AMFacilities) has partnered Cluttons LLP, giving birth to an AMFacilities-Cluttons joint venture firm for premium services.
The new company simply known as ‘Cluttons Nigeria’ is Alpha Mead’s response to the growing sophistication of real estate assets in Nigeria and the demand for best-in-class services in a very competitive and challenging business environment.
Femi Akintunde, CEO of AMFacilities, said at the launch of the partnership in Lagos, that the decision was to raise the standard of property management in Nigeria and also to respond to the dire need to deliver best practice to the Nigerian market, especially as Nigeria increased its dominance of the sub-Saharan African economy.
“As a facilities management company that is leading in the delivery of best practice to the African market, many of our clients have asked us to venture into real estate services so we can replicate the capacity we are currently demonstrating in the FM industry. But we resisted that temptation, deciding instead to partner with a renowned brand like Cluttons to bring that quality of real estate service that the Nigerian business space is looking for,” he said.

Continuing, he said: “We are therefore, delighted to partner with Cluttons to form this company in Nigeria after many years of a mutually beneficial business relationship. We’re confident that with an international brand like Cluttons which has presence in over 50 countries of the world, we will contribute significant value to the Nigerian real estate industry. It is our hope that this will help to raise the standard of professional practice, boost confidence and attract more international real estate investors to Nigeria.”
Cluttons is an international real estate services provider that has been in operation for 250 years, with strong presence in 50 countries of the world.
Ian Gladwin, the company’s head of International, said at the launch that coming into Nigerian real estate market was a major step they had been considering for three years now, adding that they had spent that period looking at sub-Saharan Africa and the various options they had.
“We see Nigeria as a major emerging market in terms of key drivers going forward. Alpha Mead is a reputable company; it is a successful business and Femi Akintunde, the CEO, has a fantastic understanding of the market and is of good practice. He is the key reason why we are in this place because we feel he can represent our interest well in Nigeria,” he said.
Cluttons Nigeria, which has Erejuwa Gbadebo, an accomplished architect with deep experience from both local and foreign practice, as CEO, will provide a wide range of commercial and residential real estate services including commercial agency valuations and management, commercial and retail management, and strategic consultancy through its corporate services team.
Gladwin disclosed further that they were in Nigeria because they identified an opportunity, noting that “Lagos is the gateway to West Africa and having a strong presence here is an important step in strengthening our established global platform; Nigeria offers us the opportunity to leverage our 40-year history in the Middle East, linking together two of the most dynamic regions in the world. We aim to create an investment and knowledge bridge, offering investors, multinational organisations, banks and developers our real estate expertise.”
