Amaecom seeks government’s assistance over industrial development

Marcel Afomata, Founder & Chairman, Amaecom Group of Companies.

The management of Amaecom Global Limited, an asset financing firm, has solicited the assistance of the Akwa Ibom State government in its efforts to contribute towards the industrial development of the state.

The company, which has completed a $1 million foam factory located in Uyo, says such assistance would go a long way in encouraging entrepreneurs to key into the industrial programme of the state government.

Marcel Afomata, managing director of the company, made the appeal when officials from Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP) visited the factory ahead of its commissioning.

Expressing delight over the ability of the company to ‘key into the vision of the state government,’ he said the factory would offer job opportunities to youths and would boost economic activities in the state as well.

“We have been able to key into government’s industrialisation programme, we have been able to create jobs and in the next couple of months, we would have added more than 200 jobs,’’ he said.

Conducting the officials round, Afomata expressed the hope that with the visit, the company which he said had been running at 100 percent completion would be set for inauguration soon, as more equipment would be brought to the factory in the coming months.

Speaking, Senas Ukpanah, AKICORP chairman, expressed delight over the establishment of the factory, saying that it was in line with the vision of the state government in developing the industrial base of the state.

Represented by Emmanuel Akpan, he urged other investors to take advantage of the enabling environment created by the state government to establish factories in the state, describing industrialisation as a process requiring many steps and milestones.

“We are happy to be here, what we have seen is in line with the vision of the state government and we would like to urge other entrepreneurs to take advantage of the quality infrastructure available in the state to set up industries,’’ he said.

The state government has taken giant steps in the last couple of years to boost the industrialisation development of the state, he said, and commended the management of the company for the giant step taken to key into the vision of the state government in the area of industrialisation.
