Determined to promote human capital development in Nigeria, Alpha Morgan Capital, an asset management company and investment banking group, has supported the remodeling of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) main library lobby and the building of the Makerspace to the tune of N100 million.
Speaking at the official commissioning of Main Library Lobby and Makerspace remodeled by Alpha Morgan Capital, Ade Buraimo, Group Managing Director of Alpha Morgan, told BusinessDay that the company is one of the fastest growing companies, which is rated as the seventh fastest growing companies in Africa and the fourth in Nigeria.
He said as a leading institution in asset management and capital market business, Alpha Morgan Capital felt the need to find a way to ensure that human capital especially graduates from institutions and schools in Nigeria are useful to the industries.
According to him, Alpha Morgan Capital decided to do a backward integration by making sure that the schools and universities where graduates are trained are in line with the modern way of studying.

“This is why we decided to support this project with over N100 million and we are happy that the project is being dedicated today to the glory of God. This project is in continuation of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative as we did in 1004 to Bar Beach, Ademola Adetokunbo Road in Victoria Island, and Osborne Road in Ikoyi as a way to give back to the society and the nation at large,” Buraimo said.
He said the library remodeling project is very relevant to the business because if Nigeria does not produce high-quality human capital and workforce, the business world will suffer, so the company decided to come to the grassroots – the university.
On her part, Folasade Ogunsola, vice chancellor of the University of Lagos, said the renovated main library is expected to provide an upgraded and conducive environment for students, lecturers, and researchers.
She said it signifies dedication to fostering a cutting-edge learning environment and commitment to enhancing its academic as well as research facilities.
