Aig-Imoukhuede leads stakeholders to brainstorm at LAPO’s forum

Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, president, National Council of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, will lead other stakeholders to brainstorm on governance, poverty, peace building at a forum organised by Lift Above Poverty Organisation (LAPO), a non-governmental organisation committed to the social, health and economic empowerment of women and other disadvantaged Nigerians.

Consequently, the organisation has concluded plans to organise its annual LAPO Development Forum this week, Thursday (today), in Abuja.

The theme of the conference, scheduled to hold at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, at 10am , is Governance, Poverty and Peace Building Nigeria.

The Annual LAPO Development Forum shall provide a veritable platform for development organisations, government agencies, professional bodies, members of the civil society and other stakeholders in development to discuss, exchange ideas and proffer pragmatic solutions to development, poverty and governance issues in Nigeria.

President of the National Council of the Nigerian Stock Exchange and former managing director of Access Bank, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede will deliver the key paper at the event, while Eddy Erhagbe, a public affairs analyst and senior lecturer at the University of Benin, will chair the event.

Initiated in 1987, LAPO was incorporated as a non-profit organisation in 1993. Over the years, the organisation has demonstrated uncommon commitment to poverty alleviation through the provision of innovative socio-economic empowerment services to women and other disadvantaged groups across the country. Poverty, poor health, discrimination, low self-esteem, ignorance, illiteracy, governance and environmental degradation are among social issues addressed by LAPO.
