Companies in the United Kingdom (UK) with licences to sponsor work visas are actively recruiting skilled migrants in in-demand roles.
These companies are recruiting with an average salary of £57,580.6 per year including work visa sponsorship, despite the drop in jobs with sponsorship licence.
According to gov.uk, the UK granted 168,471 work visas to main applicants in the year ending December 2025, a 19 percent decline from the previous year and 50 percent lower than the peak recorded in 2023.

The drop in visa grants was mainly driven by a sharp reduction in applications, which fell from 228,917 in 2023 to 55,704 in 2025, alongside a rise in refusal rates from 7 percent to 19 percent over the same period. Meanwhile, Temporary Worker visas, particularly for Seasonal Workers and the Youth Mobility Scheme, remained stable after increasing following the pandemic and now exceed the number of Health and Care Worker and Skilled Worker visas granted to main applicants.
Verified listings on platforms like Indeed.co.uk reveal that numerous companies in the official register of licensed sponsors listed in Gov.uk, are still hiring for in-demand roles for the skilled worker route.
The skilled worker route allows employers to recruit people to work in the UK in a specific job in an eligible skilled occupation. Eligible occupations are listed in Appendix Skilled Occupations.
Based on the current skilled worker visa requirements noted in Gov.uk, for sponsorship eligibility, most applicants must secure a job paying at least £41,700 a year or the occupation’s prescribed “going rate”, whichever is higher.
However, lower salary thresholds are considered for specific categories, including New Entrants, occupations on the Immigration Salary List (ISL), eligible PhD holders and Health and Care visa applicants.
For New Entrants, the threshold is £33,400 (or 70 percent of the going rate, whichever is higher); Immigration Salary List (ISL), is £33,400 (or 100 percent of the going rate). For PhD holders, it is £37,500 (if the PhD is relevant to the job), and for Health and Care visa, it is £31,300 (or higher depending on national pay scales).
