Meet the newly deployed GOCs and senior Nigerian Army officers

In a major reshuffle aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and tackling security challenges, the Nigerian Army announced the deployment of new General Officers Commanding (GOCs) and other senior officers to key commands across the country and beyond.

Godwin Mutkut (Major General) appointed the new Force Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) based in N’Djamena, Chad. A native of Plateau State, Mutkut brings vast experience, having served as the GOC 8 Division in the Northwest and most recently at the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre.

Oluyemi Olatoye (Major General) takes over as GOC 82 Division and Commander of the Joint Task Force Operation Udoka, focusing on stability in the southeast. Olatoye previously served at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry.

Eyitayo Foluso Oyinlola (Major General) becomes the GOC 3 Division and Commander of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), overseeing peace operations in Plateau and parts of Bauchi. A 42 Regular Course (RC) officer and ECOMOG veteran, Oyinlola is a decorated leader from Okuku, Osun State.

AGL Haruna (Major General) previously acting GOC of 7 Division in Maiduguri, has been confirmed as the substantive GOC of the division and Commander of Sector 1 of Operation Hadin Kai in the Northeast.

Ibikunle Ajose, (Major General) also recently promoted, has been confirmed as the substantive GOC 8 Division headquartered in Sokoto. He oversees Sector 2 of Joint Task Force Operation Fasan Yanma in the Northwest.

Lawrence Agha Fejokwu (Major General) assumes the role of Chief of Administration (Army). An infantry officer from Delta State and a veteran of multiple commands, Fejokwu’s career includes stints as GOC 81 Division and Deputy Commandant of the National Defence College.

AS Ndalolo (Major General) becomes Chief of Training (Army). A native of Pategi, Kwara State, Ndalolo joined the Army in 1987 as part of the 39 RC.

Gold Chibuisi, (Major General) a former GOC 2 Division and MNJTF Commander, takes over as Chief of Civil-Military Relations.

EI Okoro (Major General) is the new Military Secretary (Army). From Enugu State, Okoro made history as the first Southeastern officer to hold the position since 1967.

Obinna Ajunwa (Major General) has been appointed Commander, Nigerian Army Armoured Corps, while Major General Zakari Abubakar now heads the Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery.

TT Numbere (Major General) leads the Nigerian Army Corps of Engineers, and Major General Nosakhare Ugbo assumes command of the Corps of Signals.

Markus Kangye, (Major General) formerly Artillery Corps Commander, moves to Defence Headquarters as Director, Defence Media Operations.

JH Abdulsalam (Major General) becomes Chief of Special Services and Programmes.

UM Alkali (Major General), takes over as Commandant of the Army War College Nigeria, while Major General FS Etim leads the Nigerian Army School of Infantry. Major General AB Mohammed becomes the Commandant of Depot Nigerian Army.

These appointments reflect the Army’s commitment to professionalizing its ranks and ensuring operational readiness to address Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
