The United States’ (US) investment inflow into Nigeria has hit $5.4 billion since the inauguration of the Nigeria-US Bi-National Commission in 2010.

Gregory Lawless, political counselor at the US embassy in Abuja, said this on Wednesday at a media briefing on the achievements of the commission.

He said the commission is a high-level forum for advancing issues of mutual concern between both countries with its main focus aimed at deepening engagement on issues concerning governance, energy, security, agriculture and the Niger Delta.

He noted that it was the commission’s engagement with the Nigerian government in key areas which resulted in the $5.4 billion investment inflow into the country since 2010.

Lawless further revealed that the commission has met up to eight times since its inception to deepen commitment in areas of energy, security, agriculture and the Niger Delta as he added that both nations have met simultaneously in Washington to consolidate the commission’s focus.
