Updated: Doyin Salami heads Buhari’s Economic Advisory Council

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday constituted an Economic Advisory Council (EAC), headed by a renowned Economist, Doyin Salami, to replace the existing Economic Management Team EMT.
According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media Publicity, Femi Adesina, “ the advisory council will replace the current Economic Management Team (EMT) and will be reporting directly to the President”
The Economic Advisory Council (EAC) will advise the President on economic policy matters, including fiscal analysis, economic growth and a range of internal and global economic issues working with the relevant cabinet members and heads of monetary and fiscal agencies.
The EAC will have monthly technical sessions as well as scheduled quarterly meetings with the President.
The Chairman may, however, request for unscheduled meetings if the need arises.
The new team include Mohammed Sagagi, who will serve as Vice-Chairman, Ode Ojowu, member, and Shehu Yahaya – Member
Other members include Iyabo Masha, Chukwuma Soludo, Bismark Rewane and Mohammed Salisu, who will serve as Secretary (Senior Special  Assistant to the President, Development Policy)
Salami who was born in 1963, left the Central Bank of Nigeria in November 2017, after stint as member of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) Monetary Policy Committee.
Adedoyin, is a Senior Fellow/Associate Professor and full-time member of the faculty at the Lagos Business School (LBS), Pan-Atlantic University
Economic Management Team (EMT), before it was disbanded, was chaired  by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
The disbanded EMT which was headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was made up of Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Minister of Agriculture, Minister of Information and Culture
Others include Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Special Adviser to the President on Economic Matters, Director-General of the Budget Office, Director-General of the Debt Management Office, Director-General of the National Bureau of Statistics
The team had met weekly at the State House, before it was disbanded.
