The ongoing trade fair taking place at the Ibom Hall grounds in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, is intended to boost economic activities and jump start entrepreneurship development in the state.

The fair which began March 27 and is expected to end next week has attracted exhibitors from many West African countries including Ghana and Senegal with product range such as local fabrics, generating plants and lots of consumer goods.

With the theme, ‘The role of the private sector in ensuring rapid multi-sector development of the state economy’, the fair which is coming less than three months after the Akwa Ibom fair held in December last year has recorded significant improvement from previous fairs.

Organised by Medallion Ltd, it has succeeded in encouraging the interest of local entrepreneurs in trade fair participation and resulted in a big leap in economic activities in the state.

According to Dominic Nsikak Abasi, the trade fair has also resulted in stimulating the participation of the private sector in economic activities, adding that it has also encouraged entrepreneurship development and reduce the high level of unemployment in the state.
