Shippers’ council told to revive trade facilitation organs

  Kunle Folarin, the chairman, Ports Consultative Council (PCC), on Tuesday advised the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) to revive its defunct organs of trade facilitation.

Folarin gave the advice in Lagos during a courtesy call by members of the PCC on the acting executive secretary of the NSC, Hassan Bello.

He listed the Port Charges Monitoring Committee, Shippers’ Associations and others as organs that would facilitate trade and reduce the cost of doing business at the ports.

“The council should also reach out to stakeholders regularly as this certainly will enhance the success of your organisation.

“We are assuring the acting executive secretary of our fullest support in ensuring that his tenure is not only successful, but also remarkable and memorable in moving the maritime industry in Nigeria to the next enviable level”, Folarin said.
