Bashir Yuguda, the minister of state for works, on Tuesday inaugurated the rehabilitated 97km Katsina-Daura-Mai’Adua Road in Katsina State, awarded in 2009.
Yuguda also inaugurated two newly constructed bridges on the Katsina-Kano highway valued at N870 million.
Inaugurating the projects, the minister said the road would enhance safety, reduce travel time and provide access to the northern parts of the country.
He noted that the route was intended to connect the Trans-Saharan roads of the country and boost economic activities between the states of Katsina, Jigawa, Kano and Niger Republic.
“We are here to commission these projects which will not only provide better access to Nigeria’s most important agricultural destination in the northern parts of the country, but will improve the evacuation of farm produce and services within and outside Katsina”.
